MICHAEL SCHENKER’S TEMPLE OF ROCK CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK

Michael Schenker was the first German hard rock superstar and remains one of the greatest guitar heroes of all time. In the 70s he released albums with the Scorpions and UFO, gaining world fame with the latter act. In 1980 he debuted with his own Michael Schenker Group, shortened MSG, fronted by singer Gary Barden. To date, MSG have released eleven studio albums, including several certified milestones in the history of melodic hard rock. This to no small extent thanks to the array of superb singers that Michael Schenker has gathered for his band over the years. Graham Bonnet (ex-Rainbow), Robin McAuley (ex-Survivor) and Kelly Keeling (ex-John Norum), to name but a few.

Now another legendary name has been added to the collection – on MSG’s return to SRF, they will have none other than Doogie White (ex-Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen) at the microphone. The guarantee of quality playing backing that voice is signed by three guys called Herman Rarebell (drums), Francis Bucholtz (bass) and Wayne Findlay (guitar/keyboard).

CANNIBAL CORPSE, BLACK VEIL BRIDES & LIZZY BORDEN NEW FOR GODS OF METAL 2012

Today organisers have announced the arrival of CANNIBAL CORPSE, BLACK VEIL BRIDES and LIZZY BORDEN to the Gods of Metal bill for 2012!

CANNIBAL CORPSE return to Italy at Gods Of Metal 2012 on 21st June (MANOWAR headlining). After participating in the 2012 edition in Turin, the American band will return to give us great music and great growl extreme. The ultimate death metal band will present songs from the new album “Torture” (out March 13th) in addition to the classics that made it famous around the world. CANNIBAL Welcome back!

BLACK VEIL BRIDES, young glam rock band from Los Angeles band, have confirmed their presence for 23rd June (MOTLEY CRUE headliner). The same day we have the honor to announce the presence of LIZZY BORDEN: historical “shock rock” band, in the wake of Alice Cooper and WASP … a great return!

METAL TOWN PRESENTS SIX NEW BANDS!

The summer promises to be darker than ever. Death and black metal cubed when we today present six new acts coming to this year’s Metal Town in Gothenburg on 15th – 16th June.

From Gothenburg, world-renowned metal scene, we give you Dark Tranquillity and Avatar. In addition, four names to the new dark scene, which this year takes place at the festival, where among other things will see Mayhem, Primordial, Unleashed and Descend!

THREE BRITISH TREASURES ADDED TO PEACE & LOVE LINE UP

Peace & Love takes place June 26 to 30 in Borlange, and this year’s theme is “A New World” – we can now present the three British treasures to Peace & Love in the summer. Indie rock band Bloc Party, punk pop The Subways and the latest British sensation Benjamin Francis Leftwich is ready for the festival.

Bloc Party was formed in London in 2002 and has since played nice indie rock, but also a lot of post punk with clattering drums and nice guitars. Bloc Party released their debut album Silent Alarm in February 2005, an album that was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, and in February 2007 saw the follow up A Weekend in the City. In the spring, also a new record

One of England’s most popular live bands take the Subways to Borlänge and Peace & Love, a band that makes the absolute best at the festival. It is cheeky, punky and teenagey and The Subway always gives 100% live with their straight powerpop. Brothers Billy Lunn and Josh Morgan, and bassist Charlotte Cooper released their first album in 2005 and the song “Rock and Roll Queen” made famous by TV series OC.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich is only 22 years but has already achieved great success at home in England with their debut album Load smoke before the snow storm. What critics have lit the of when they hear the Son of York is the voice, a voice that is uniquely hypnotic and that builds up throughout the music. People have compared him to Elliott Smith, Ryan Adams and now Benjamin to Sweden and the Peace & Love.

T IN THE PARK LINE UP ANNOUNCED!

As promised we can now bring you this year’s T in Te Park line up that has just been announced over on their Facebook page!

Headlining the festival this year will be Snow Patrol, The Stone Roses, Kasabian!

Joining them on the bill are Tinie Tempah, New Order, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Elbow, Example, Professor Green, Kaiser Chiefs, and Jessie J.

Other acts revealed today include Chase & Status, Skrillex, The Temper Trap, Sven Vath, Emeli Sande, Ben Howard, Happy Mondays, James Morrison, The Darkness, Miike Snow, Labrinth, Amy Macdonald, The Courteeners, The Enemy, Mastodon, and Slam.

And they keep on coming – Pulled Apart By Horses, Tribes, Enter Shikari, Major Lazer, Rizzle Kicks, Peter Doherty, Skream ft. Sgt Pokes, Erol Alkan, The Wailers, Benga, Fake Blood, Jack Beats, Crookers, Alabama Shakes, The Wanted, Twin Atlantic, Dubfire, Joris Voorn, Christina Perri, Devlin, Bellowhead, Maya Jane Coles, Little Roy, Spector, Len Faki, Band Of Skulls, and Pan-Pot.

TWO FOR RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE & SIX MORE BANDS FOR SOPHIE STAGE

Grindcore Supergroup LOCK UP (featuring members of At The Gates, Ex-Dimmu Borgir, Napalm Death and Brujeria), have announced that they will be appearing on the MAIN STAGE at this years BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL.

Taiwanese hard rock superstars CHTHONIC have also announced they will join the RONNIE JAMES DIO stage line up on the Saturday. The release of their album ‘Takasago Army’ in 2011 saw them draw more strongly than ever on their Eastern influences, giving true sense to the words ‘Orient Metal’ – the term the band use to describe their hybrid music style.

The SOPHIE LANCASTER STAGE line up continues to grow with a further six bands announced.

French Post-Black Metal outfit ALCEST, are the third headliner to be announced for the Sophie Lancaster Stage, joining ORANGE GOBLIN and ANAAL NATHRAKH. With their unique compositions of music from another world and a ‘KKKKK’ review for their latest album ‘Les Voyages De L’âme’, their creative sound will almost certainly be a highlight for those who witness their set.

English Black Metallers, WINTERFYLLETH are currently working on their 3rd album, for a 2012 release on Candlelight Records and will follow up their release with an appearance at Bloodstock.

DEMONIC RESSURECTION are one of the most important bands to have come out of the Indian music scene, and after plans to tour the UK collapsed last year, they are happy to announce their appearance on the Sophie Lancaster Stage. It’s been a long and sometimes arduous 10-year journey for the band, but in June 2010 they won the ‘Global Metal’ award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods, which shows that the journey for Demonic Resurrection, is only just beginning…..

French quintet HEADCHARGER join the already solid line up with their infectious grooves already spreading all over Europe & their latest album ‘Slow Motion Disease’ set for release 30th April 2012 via XIII BIS Records.

EASTERN FRONT have also been confirmed to bring their unique sound of ‘War Torn Black Metal’ to the Bloodstock Masses. With their second album currently due for release later this year via Candlelight Records, they will no doubt be showcasing some new material.

And last but not least, ANCIENT ASCENDANT a 4 piece death metal band from Reading/London who are pioneering a fusion of old school principles with modern dynamics and power, are extremely happy to announce their appearance at Catton Hall.

IMPERIAL STATE ELECTRIC CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK 2012

Nicke Andersson is a remarkable man. As the leader of Entombed he made Stockholm the global epicentre of death metal. As the leader of the Hellacopters, he spearheaded the renaissance of hard rock’n’roll.

With Imperial State Electric, he moves forward with the latter genre, albeit in a different form. Here the groove of rock’n’roll mates with strong pop melodies with delectably theatrical overtones, in the vein of Kiss, Alice Cooper and Cheap Trick. Since the release of the eponymous debut in 2010, Imperial State Electric has grown into more than a one-man project. The sophomore effort ”Pop war” is a bona fide band product and marks a great leap forward for Imperial State Electric. Energetic, fun, groove-oriented and made to be played live – this is what real rock’n’roll sounds like in 2012.

THE KOOKS, GLASVEGAS & WARPAINT JOIN THE LINE-UP!

Organisers have  announced that The Kooks, Glasvegas and Warpaint have all been added to the line-up of Bilbao BBK Live festival. The Kooks and Warpaint are scheduled to play on Friday the 13th July, the day Radiohead will be headlining. Glasvegas, on the other hand, will perform on Saturday the 14th.

The Kooks, a British four piece formed in Brighton in 2004, released their fourth album “Junk on the Heart” in September 2011. Their debut album from 2006 “Inside In/Inside Out” has sold over 2 million copies to date and has generated six Top 40 singles in the UK.

Hailing from Scotland, Glasvegas came together nine years ago in Glasgow and released their homonymous debut album in September 2008; surprisingly two months later they released their second album, a Christmas mini-album named “A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss)”. Last year they released their third album “Euphoric///Heartbreak”.

Lastly, the all girl quartet from Los Angeles Warpaint released their first LP “The Fool” in 2010. Having previously released and EP (‘Exquisite Corpse’, 2008), mixed and mastered by John Frusciante (ex-member of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers), their music has been described as experimental alt-rock.

Sadly our second announcement is that Klaxons has cancelled all their summer commitments, including Bilbao BBK Live festival, to concentrate in the recording of their new album. We wish them all the best and hope to see them soon in Bilbao!

But announcements don’t end here – This year Bilbao BBK Live will be launching a third major stage adding 20 more international bands to the line-up of the event.

Finally, the last bit of news for now is that Day Tickets for Thursday and Friday will go on sale on Friday the 10th Feb at £46 + booking fee each day. Day tickets for Saturday will be available soon after the announcement of the third headliner.

TWISTED SISTER TO MAKE GRASPOP METAL MEETING DEBUT

Graspop Metal Meeting has announced TWISTED SISTER’s long overdue GMM debut!

Founded back in 1972 by guitarist Jay Jay French, it still took Twisted Sister ten years to release their debut album Under the Blade. After years of pottering about, the American quintet decided to change musical directions and thanks to an inventive mix of traditional heavy metal, pure rock ‘n’ roll and a pinch of early seventies glam rock, Twisted Sister’s popularity began to soar.

Energy bomb Dee Snider joined in 1976 and he clearly brought more to the mix than just the big hair. Taking over as the band’s songsmith, Snider authored the hit singles We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock off the 1984 Stay Hungry album, two rock anthems that catapulted Twisted Sister into international fame.

In 1987, the band called it quits after just four albums, only to reform ten years later. Their last studio album Still Hungry was released in 2004, but more than anything else Twisted Sister are known for their energetic live shows, making The Iron Men of Rock and Roll’ one of the most exciting bands in metal history.

FLORIDIAN BAND ICED EARTH CONFIRMED FOR ROCKSTAD FALUN 2012

The legendary Iced Earth from Tampa, Florida (U.S.) is one of the most requested bands for this summer’s festival, and when it became clear that they were available in Europe during the festival weekend, we saw absolutely no reason not to book them!

The band was formed in 1985 and has since then influenced thousands of bands worldwide with their unique sound and mix of thrash, heavy and power metal.

Iced Earth released their riff-heavy self-titled debut album in 1990 and has now the new album “Dystopia” out, and they are also out on the most comprehensive and extensive world tour in Iced Earth’s history.
