Sziget Festival – Hungary

Sziget Festival HungaryPRINCE AND MORE ADDED TO SZIGET FESTIVAL ‘DAY ZERO’

Only eighteen days before the start the Hungarian Sziget Festival comes with the line-up of the traditional second festival day ‘Day Zero’ (9 August). Although there will be performances on only a few stages, this day will certainly be one not to be missed.

Crowning the day will be a Main Stage performance of Prince, who will come to the festival for the first time. But the day will also see performances of some of the most successful world music acts that have already performed at Sziget before: Klezmatics from New York, Serbian Boban i Marko Markovic Orkestar and Russia’s finest underground ska band Leningrad. These bands always managed to create a great party in a magical athmosphere. Usually they are headliners on the World Music Stage, so it will be really special to see them all on one day.

As if all of that is not enough yet, on the Europe stage people could check out the winning acts of talent competitions all over Europe. And from Hungary eleven of the most famous Hungarian acts will perform accompanied by the Magyar Radio Symphonic Orchestra. These eleven acts are Pannonia All-Stars Ska Orchestra, Vastaghúros Swetter zenekar, Heaven Street Seven, Balkán Fanatik, Isten Háta Mögött, Hiperkarma, Freshfabrik, Budapest Bár, Rúzsa Magdi and Caramel.

The first day, which is traditionally called ‘Day -1’, is as usual a day with only Hungarian acts. In the days after ‘Day Zero’ acts like The Prodigy, Pulp, Interpol, Kasabian, Dizzee Rascal, Judas Priest, The Maccabees, Oi Va Voi, British Sea Power and White Lies are on the bill, next to many other bands in a wide range of musical genres. Besides music the Sziget Festival is known for the fun, as there are many more things going on than just concerts.

The Sziget Festival takes place from 8th to 15th August on an island in the Danube in the Hungarian capital Budapest
