THE DARKNESS CONFIRMED FOR SWEDEN ROCK 2012!
”Permission to land” (2003), the debut from British band the Darkness, was the talk of the town of hard rock in the early first decade of the 21st century. This huge success brought glam rock back with a vengeance and made Justin Hawkins one of the most talked-about frontmen of the age. The theatrical humor of his body language and falsetto voice outraged many a hair metal purist, while others identified him as a primadonna in the tradition of Queen’s Freddie Mercury, Uriah Heep’s David Byron and Van Halen’s David Lee Roth.
The ambitious second album ”One way ticket to hell… and back” (2005) fared less well, and internal turmoil provoked the split-up of the Darkness in 2006. Not until 2011 the persistent rumors of a reunion were confirmed: the band was back with their original lineup of Hawkins, his brother Dan (guitar), Frankie Poullain (bass) and Ed Graham (drums). Today it’s 2012, the comeback album of the Darkness is soon upon us, and the band is about to make their debut at SRF.
Everyone who has missed the previous decade’s kings of theatrical rock will be treated with new and fresh material, as well as classics like ”I believe in a thing called love” and ”One way ticket”.
