Optimus Alive 2012

The British band The Kooks are the latest confirmation for Optimus Alive’12 where they will play their new album, “Junk of the Heart”, released in September last year.

Coming from Brighton, the Kooks wasted no time making their mark in music history and just the first long-term, “Inside In / Inside Out” (2006), conquered the world. The album would achieve 4 times Platinum, only in the UK, and earned them the MTV European Award for “Best UK & Ireland Act,” plus a nomination for the Brit Awards.

It took only two years for the second album, “Konk”, which thanks to singles like “Always Where I Need to Be,” “Shine On” and “Sway”, went straight to first place in top UK sales. In September last year, released “Junk Of Hearts”, the third album of originals, which will form the basis for action in the promenade of Boksburg, 15th July.

Optimus Alive’12 organisers are also proud to introduce for the first time live in Portugal, one of the most important bands to emerge in recent years, the British band Mumford & Sons, who play on the 14th July.

Coming from the so-called “West London Folk Scene”, Mumford & Sons released their debut album in late 2009, “Sigh No More.” The album and the band gained a reputation throughout 2010, through intense touring and singles “Little Lion Man”, “Winter Winds” and “The Cave”.

After a year, Mumford & Sons were already regarded as one of the best British bands live and have raised important prizes: a Brit Award, three Billboard Music Awards and a Q Award, among others. Despite having only one album, also received six Grammy nominations.
