NIGHT RANGER CONFIRM ONLY SCANDINAVIAN SHOW AT SWEDEN ROCK 2012
The missing link between Billy Joel and Van Halen. This actually is not a bad description of Night Ranger, one of the biggest AOR-bands of the 80s. Particularly their first three albums – “Dawn patrol” (1982), “Midnight madness” (1984) and “Seven wishes” (1985) – are Classics with a capital C, stuffed with such hits as “Don’t tell me you love me”, “Sentimental Street” and “Sister Christian”.
The latter ballad is probably Night Ranger’s most famous song, though all in all the band became known for a tougher, more guitar-dominated sound than most of their peers’. The members are also very skillful and in demand as musicians – for instance, singer/bassist Jack Blades has also played with Damn Yankees, and guitarist Brad Gillis with Ozzy Osbourne and Vicious Rumors. Like most AOR bands Night Ranger suffered in the 90s.
In recent years, however, their career is happily back on track, and their most recent album “Somewhere in California” (2011) is a great show of strength. Night Ranger have certainly picked a good year for that SRF debut that so many of you have been waiting for.
