Optimus Alive 2012


The musician, producer and actor, Tricky meets on stage with Martina Topley-Bird, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist for the first time in 15 years to fully play the seminal debut album from the British, “Maxinquaye” 14th July on the Heineken Stage Optimus Alive’12.

As musicians, Tricky and Martina are known as important pioneers of trip-hop scene in Bristol, which “Maxinquaye” is one of the key albums. Tricky began to be talked about for having co-composed three songs from “Blue Lines” (1991), the multi-platinum debut album of Massive Attack.

At the premiere in his own name, Tricky gave the world “Maxinquaye” a hard black and mysterious, with Martina Topley-Bird’s voice, combines hip-hop, soul, dub, rock and electronica. In addition to Martina, the disc also had the voice of Alison Goldfrapp in “Pumpkin”.

Joining them on this year’s line up are Santigold who are confirmed to play on the Heineken Stage on 13th July!   Come, see and conquer could be the motto of Santi White. The first single, “Creator,” was an immediate success, increased by the second single, “LES Artistes” and confirmed by the first long-term, “Santogold” (2008). Apart from an NME Award for “Artist”, Santigold won the chance to share the stage with Coldplay, Kanye West or Jay-Z, among many others.

The second album is about waiting to be known, but judging by the already submitted three singles, “GO! (With Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs),” Big Mouth “and” Youth Nonsense, “Santigold will not let the credit for hands of others.
