History of FortaRock Festival

The History of Rock Forta goes back to 2006. In the first concert on Wednesday, May 17th to be exact. The first concert under the Forta Rock flag, it was the start of a successful collaboration between Forta Rock and Sleeping Beauty. All with the goal of putting ‘heavy music’ on the map to be held in Nijmegen and surrounding areas. The first three years, cooperation has focused to include concerts by Delain, Deicide, Volbeat, Enslaved, Epica, Burst, Cult Of Luna and more.

2007 also saw the first Forta Rock ‘outdoor’ event organised as part of Festival De-Affaire. To this day, ‘host’ Forta Rock every year at this stage annual festival during the summer parties in Nijmegen. In 2007, the textures, Battlelore and Fear my Thoughts who gave meaning to. The following years include Finntroll, Scorpions, Gojira, Amenra, Karma To Burn and Valient Thorr.

2009 was the year of the first real outdoor festival under the name of Forta Rock – The Festival. The program featured include Meshuggah, Satyricon, Death Angel, The Dillinger Escape Plan and Moonspell. The first was a great success, it was a harbinger of things to come. The editions of 2010 and 2011 are now also history. Many metal bands of names have been passed in review including: Fear Factory, Killswitch Engage, Suicidal Tendencies, Kreator, Immortal, Arch Enemy and more. But it does not. Forta Rock will continue to invest in ‘heavy music’ and will again in 2011 a festival put on legs. The aim is a medium where festival atmosphere, music should continue to go hand in hand.
