About Freedom Festival
FREEDOM, Hull’s annual cultural extravaganza, will return this summer with early September dates confirmed for the Festival.

A spectacular mix of free and paid-for events that cannot be experienced anywhere else will take place over the Festival’s duration, from the evening of Friday 7th September, midday to late night of Saturday 8th and late morning to mid-afternoon of Sunday 9th September.  The Festival will begin with a special preview evening on Thursday 6th September.

FREEDOM 2012 will offer visual and auditory delights that will entertain all ages with a broad range of programmes including street theatre, cabaret, dance, comedy, and live music.

Plans are currently being made for a series of indoor and outdoor events at a number of points in the city centre including:

–    a European physical theatre show unlike anything seen before in Yorkshire will visit FREEDOM as part of its UK premier tour
–    a packed programme of live music across a broad range of genres such as jazz, folk and indie-pop on a number of outdoor stages.  Bands, dance troupes and DJs from Hull’s thriving music scene will feature alongside artists from the UK, Europe and special guest headliners.
–    Teatro, a spectacular travelling dance hall from the 1900’s, will feature the hottest comedy, children’s theatre, music and cabaret shows including performers direct from a sell-out season at the principal venues at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
–    an outdoor market, food village and  alfresco eating and drinking areas

More details will be announced over the coming weeks, with a full programme of FREEDOM events taking place in other parts of Hull city centre.  Further information and performance announcements on the line up can be found at and via Facebook at ‘Freedom Festival Hull’.
