BON IVER, PAUL WELLER & ELBOW TO HEADLINE LATITUDE FESTIVAL 2012
Organisers have just released this year’s line up and we can reveal that Bon Iver, Elbow and Paul Weller will headline Latitude’s Obelisk Arena for 2012!
Joining the music headliners are… World famous concert pianist Lang Lang, as well as Laura Marling, Janelle Monáe, Richard Hawley, St. Vincent, tune-yards & White Lies, who will be making their only 2012 UK festival appearances at Latitude!
Welcome returns to Bat For Lashes, Battles, METRONOMY, The Horrors and Wild Beasts. 80’s favourites Daryl Hall, Lloyd Colee and Simple Minds Official will all make welcome Latitude debuts this year. Other confirmed acts new to the festival include The Field, Michael Kiwanuka, M83, Sharon Van Etten and Zola Jesus

Filling the Comedy Arena with laughter will be: The Infinite Monkey Cage with hosts Brian Cox, Robin Ince and Al Murray.

The Literary Arena will once again play host to the nation’s favourite authors, journalists and talking heads including Siri Hustvedt, Iain Banks, Paul Mason, Dylan Jones, Andrew Loog Oldham, Richard Milward, Tim Lott, Jo & Emlyn Rees, Mark Haddon
The ever popular Poetry Arena will feature: Benjamin Zephaniah,Tony Harrison, Don Paterson, Scroobius Pip and legendary punk poet John Cooper Clarke, John Hegley, @Patience Agbabi, Sabrina Mahfouz, Salena Godden, Byron Vincent, Rhian Edwards, Martin Figura, Aoife Mannix, Joel Stickley, Tim Clare, Intensi-T and many more
The Film & Music Arena presents: Paul Heaton’s (The Beautiful South) The 8th, Iain Sinclair’s An English Journey Reimagined, Shirley Collins, Alan Moore, Adam Buxton , The London Community Gospel Choir, Mark Lamarr’s God’s Jukebox. BAFTA will also present their highly anticipated programme of screenings and Q&A
In Latitude’s Theatre Arena: The enchanting Australian circus company C!rca, Lyric Hammersmith, Battersea Arts Centre, Harold in Havana and the National Theatre, Look Left Look Right, Mark Thomas. Contemporary dance favourites Sadler’s Wells are also set to return to The Waterfront Stage.
The Outdoor Theatre presents: Theatre Delicatessen, Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe, HighTide, and Pentabus Theatre
In the Cabaret Arena Rich Hall’s Hoedown will bring the comic abandon of the American mid-west to the Sussex countryside. Also: Ida Barr, The Horne Section, Hugh Hughes, Ridiculusmus, Sarah Pascoe, Jessica Ransom and Cardinal Burns.
Other names include Spank!, Duckie, Dr Brown, Max and Ivan, Four Screws Loose, Celia Pacquola, Sheeps, Wittank, Colin Hoult, Brian Lobel, Adam Kay, Unfolding Theatre, Naz Osmanoglu, Fergus Craig, Pat Cahill and Ed Gamble.
In the weird and wonderful Pandora’s Playground will be SIMON MUNNERY, Videopia, The Monster Comedy Shack & The Disco Shed!
The Faraway Forest will host a spectacular Hoedown on Saturday night at the festival as well as, a Ceilidh, plus Morris dancers, folklore performances, installations and a host of activities celebrating traditional culture with reference to seasonal and agricultural traditions!
