The Canadian band Danko Jones, one of the leading figures in Rock n ‘Roll today, is the latest confirmation for Optimus Alive’12, where they play on 13th July.   Also confirmed today are Noah and The Whale who will be playing on 14th July

Unfortunately the Lostprophets have been forced to cancel their performance at Optimus Alive’12, scheduled for July 13th –  “Due to scheduling Commitments Lostprophets have regrettably had to cancel Their performance at Optimus Alive this year. Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012AWOLNATION, DEATH IN VEGAS & BURAKA SOM SISTEMA CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012!

AWOLNATION are the latest confirmation for the Heineken Stage at Optimus Alive’12, where they act July 14. The Biggest Concert Event in Music and Art marks the live debut in Portugal.  Design created by Aaron Bruno, the AWOLNATION edited in 2010 the first digital EP, “Back From Earth”, which was included the single “Sail,” which became an instant hit worldwide.

DEATH IN VEGAS, one of the most influential British bands of the 90s, are the latest confirmation for the Heineken Stage at Optimus Alive’12, where they act July 13.  With only two members, Richard Fearless and Tim Holmes, the Death in Vegas are changing style. With only five original albums, throw themselves with the same desire to psychedelic rock and electronic beats to dance to the track.

On stage, are recognized by the tense and intense concerts, which capture the full attention of the audience, unable to look away while the band is on stage. If confirmed, July 13, the promenade of Boksburg.

The party at the Heineken Stage is guaranteed with the confirmation of effusive BURAKA SOM SISTEMA. The action of the Portuguese band in promenade of Algés is scheduled for July 13.

The first release “From Buraka to the World” (2006), originally a limited edition of 700 copies, sold out in just one week. Launched by Enchufada Publishing House, created a few years earlier by John “J-Wow ‘Barbosa and Kalaf, the EP was made with recycled boxes where each package was different. Between trips and concerts, the group began working on the debut album, the explosive ‘Black Diamond’, which was to achieve Gold Record by selling over 10,000 units. The reputation of Buraka Som Sistema live continued to grow, with praise in the New York Times, The Guardian and The Fader.

In September 2010 the band locked up for a month in a house in the woods of Monchique in southern Portugal, to begin work on the second long-term. “Komba” was released in autumn last year and Buraka pushed back to the forefront of electronic music world with his unique vision of the global revolution of the ghetto.

Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012WARPAINT AND MILES KANE CONFIRMED FOR HEINEKEN STAGE!

Optimus Alive’12 will receive the visit of four girls from Los Angeles, Warpaint. The art-rockers U.S. act July 15th in the Heineken Stage, joining the already Warpaint 2012confirmed Mazzy Star, The Kills, Metronomy, The Maccabees and SBTKRT.

Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (guitar, vocals), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass and vocals) and Stella Mozgawa (drums), edited the debut album, “The Fool” in October 2010, after having played live in the Los Angeles area for 3 years.

Described by Flea (Red Hot Chilli Peppers) as a “hard beautiful and sublime,” the first feature-length gave way to worldwide recognition of Warpaint.

Miles KaneLead singer of The Rascals and half the Last Shadow Puppets (band he shares with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys), Miles Kane debuts live in Portugal on July 15th, on the Heineken Stage.

After the end of The Rascals and while we wait eagerly for the second disc of Last Shadow Puppets, Miles Kane decided to embark on a solo career and issued the first long-term, “Colour of the Trap.”

Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012SBTRKT & LMFAO CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012!

Left the bustling London’s DJ culture, SBTRKT (read Subtract) is the latest confirmation for the Optimus Alive’12. Aaron Jerome, birth name, debuts live in Portugal at the Heineken Stage, July 15.

Known for remixes from bands like Radiohead so important, with whom he shares the day, MIA or Modeselektor, among many others, SBTRKT quickly became a cult phenomenon in the London night.

After editing a series of singles and EPs, SBTRKT issued in June of last year’s debut album, namesake, who was part of the list of 50 Best of the Year for the NME and Uncut, in addition to having earned first place in the top in DJ Magazine. Reasons abound to dance to SBTRKT debut in Portugal.

Also confirmed today are LMFAO who will be playing the Heineken stage on 13th July!

Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012THE ANTLERS AND LOST PROPHETS CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012

The latest confirmation for the Optimus Alive’12 are British rockers Lostprophets, which play on 13th July. The British band came to Portugal to present the new album, “Weapons”, editing the beginning of April.

Considered one of the most explosive live bands of today, the Lostprophets have won six awards Kerrang!, Including the important “The Classic Songwriter Award” and an NME Award for “Best Metal Act”.

Also confirmed today are The Antlers, indie-rockers from New York!  The band led by Peter Silberman play on the 14th July on the Heineken Stage

The story of The Antlers begins with Peter Silberman of the change for the musically prolific neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York. Even as a solo project, The Antlers edited the two discs: “Uprooted” (2006) and “In the Attic of the Universe” (2007).

Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012THE MACCABEES CONFIRMED FOR HEINEKEN STAGE AT OPTIMUS ALIVE!

The British indie-rockers The Maccabees are the latest confirmation for the Optimus Alive’12. The band hails from Brighton and will play on the 15th July at Heineken Stage playing tracks from, “Given To The Wild,” released this year.

With three albums edited the career of The Maccabees have passed upwards from the first edition of the album “Colour It In” (2007). The successor, “Wall of Arms” (2009), was the first to enter the top 20 sales in the UK.

Earlier this year, edited “Given to the Wild” which was the subject of enthusiastic reception by the critics, with the New Musical Express (NME) and the Clash Music to allocate 9/10. The public also was not indifferent to the album, which reached the 4th place in the top British sales.

Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012THE KILLS & KATY B CONFIRMED FOR THE HEINEKEN STAGE

The American band The Kills are the latest confirmation for the Optimus Alive’12. The double act will play on 15th July on the Heineken Stage!

Alison “VV” Mosshart and Jamie “Hotel” Hince are one of the most important bands of the last decade. The band’s success came with the debut album, “Keep on Your Mean Side” (2003), which introduced the world to a garage-blues-rock in sexy version.

After the release of “The Wow” (2005) and “Midnight Boom” (2008), The Kills released last year’s fourth full-length, “Blood Pressures,” which was presented by the single “Satellite”, described by the magazine Q as “an indie anthem in the making.”

In 2011, Katy B released her debut album “On A Mission” and became a new sensation of British music. In 2012 she debuts live in Portugal on 14th July on the Heineken Stage.

Singer and songwriter, Katy B is mixing different musical genres, ranging from Dubstep to House through the R & B, making them a very unique style. The debut single, “Katy on a Mission”, produced by Benga, immediately put it on the looks of the public attention and criticism.

“On a Mission”, the debut album, established her as definitely one of the most interesting new values of British music and earned him nominations for several awards like the prestigious Q Awards, MTV Awards, Mercury Prize and, more recently, NME Awards.

Optimus Alive! Festival, Portugal 2012THE KOOKS AND MUMFORD & SONS ADDED TO OPTIMUS ALIVE LINE UP!

The British band The Kooks are the latest confirmation for Optimus Alive’12 where they will play their new album, “Junk of the Heart”, released in September last year.

Coming from Brighton, the Kooks wasted no time making their mark in music history and just the first long-term, “Inside In / Inside Out” (2006), conquered the world. The album would achieve 4 times Platinum, only in the UK, and earned them the MTV European Award for “Best UK & Ireland Act,” plus a nomination for the Brit Awards.

It took only two years for the second album, “Konk”, which thanks to singles like “Always Where I Need to Be,” “Shine On” and “Sway”, went straight to first place in top UK sales. In September last year, released “Junk Of Hearts”, the third album of originals, which will form the basis for action in the promenade of Boksburg, 15th July.

Optimus Alive’12 organisers are also proud to introduce for the first time live in Portugal, one of the most important bands to emerge in recent years, the British band Mumford & Sons, who play on the 14th July.

Coming from the so-called “West London Folk Scene”, Mumford & Sons released their debut album in late 2009, “Sigh No More.” The album and the band gained a reputation throughout 2010, through intense touring and singles “Little Lion Man”, “Winter Winds” and “The Cave”.

After a year, Mumford & Sons were already regarded as one of the best British bands live and have raised important prizes: a Brit Award, three Billboard Music Awards and a Q Award, among others. Despite having only one album, also received six Grammy nominations.

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalFIRST PORTUGUESE BAND CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012

The PAUS are the first Portuguese band confirmed for the Optimus Alive’12, where they play July 15th!

Makoto Yagyu (bass, keyboards, vocals), Joachim Albergaria (half siamese drums, vocals), John Payne (keyboards, vocals) and Helio Morais (half siamese drums and vocals) are the sticks, people who have given us some of the most exciting indie-inspired projects in recent years as Linda Martini Vicious Five or If Lucy Fell.

After the debut EP, “It’s water,” snatched the sticks us with the first edition of the long-term, same name, which went directly to the 3rd place in the National Top Sales. “PAUSE” is a record of eight subjects from enemies and incisors that part of the clues that gave us the first EP to get infinitely further and confirm the quartet as one of the most original and innovative projects of the latest music made in Portugal.

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalTHE CURE TO HEADLINE PORTUGAL’S OPTIMUS ALIVE FESTIVAL 2012!

The Cure have announced that they are headlining some of the biggest festivals in Europe this summer and among them, as might be expected, is Optimus Alive’12. They will perform on July 14th!

After the acclaimed performance in 2011 and Bestival show “Reflections” at the Royal Albert Hall, The Cure – Robert Smith (vocals, guitar), Simon Gallup (bass), Jason Cooper (drums) and Roger O’Donnell (Keyboard) – will play an alignment that exceed two hours and which will be included songs from all 14 studio albums, including the epic song “Wish”, which this year celebrates the 20th anniversary.

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalSNOW PATROL CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE’12

The Northern Irish band SNOW PATROL come to Portugal to present the new album, “Fallen Empires” (2011), with a single action on the biggest event of Music and Art, July 13 in Stage Optimus.

Snow Patrol rose to the level of international superstars with the third album “Final Straw” (2003), after launching the first two albums through an independent publisher.

After three years, released “Eyes Open”, the fourth studio album, which included the single “Chasing Cars” became a worldwide success, with obligatory stop on radio around the world. Portugal was no exception and Snow Patrol have become a striking phenomenon among us.

In 2008 came “A Hundred Million Suns” and in July this year had the sixth studio album, “Fallen Empires”, from which have left the singles “Called Out in the Dark” and “This Is not Everything You Are.”

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalELECTRONIC MUSIC DUO JUSTICE CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012!

Justice! Justice! Justice! The influential French electronic music duo is the latest confirmation for the Optimus Alive’12, where they play on July 13th.

Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay French are the two responsible for Justice, one of the most influential bands of today, who revolutionized electronic music with the debut album, “Cross” (2007), which gave almost every song they played singles repeatedly on the dance floors around the world. This year the second full-length, “Audio, Video, Disco”, which have been extracted from the singles “Civilization” and “Audio, Video, Disco”, is already marked in the third edition of “On’n’On “January of next year.

Known and recognized by the explosive live performances, the Justice take the audience to their feet and will transform the Promenade Algés a huge open-air disco, where it will be impossible not to give a foot of DANCE

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalTHE STONE ROSES CONFIRMED FOR OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012!

From the moment the meeting confirmed the Stone Roses were back, many festivals had the goal to hire the quartet from Manchester.

Formed in 1983, the Stone Roses were an essential part of the Madchester movement that have flourished in the British city a number of historical groups during the late 80s, early 90s.

The first album, “The Stone Roses” (1989), turned them immediately into a global phenomenon, thanks to singles like “I Want to Be Adored,” “Waterfall” or “She Bangs the Drums”. The importance of the disk extends to the present day, having in 2006 been considered by the New Musical Express (NME) with the best British album of all times.

On 18 October, and after intense speculation, the Stone Roses have announced the return to stage with three concerts at Heaton Park in Manchester. The 220,000 tickets on sale for this concert sold out in just 68 minutes, becoming the rock concerts that sold out quickly in the history of British music!

In reaction to the new sales record in the UK, frontman Ian Brown said the band members’ plan to spend the rest of the day by leaps and bounds with his hands in the air, “the same reaction as the audience will have when the Stone Roses go up Stage Optimus to the greatest event in music and art.

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalMETRONOMY CONFIRMED IN OPTIMUS ALIVE’12

The British band Metronomy are the latest confirmation for the biggest event of Music and Art, where they play July 15th. Metronomy join the already announced Radiohead, Florence and The Machine Mazzy Star.

Having started as a solo project of Joseph Mount, known for remixes for Gorillaz, Franz Ferdinand and Klaxons, Metronomy have come to be a band with the inclusion of members of The Food Groups, which are usually played in the first part of the concerts of Joseph Mount .

International success came with the second album “Nights Out” (2008), which included the singles “A Thing for Me,” “Heartbreaker,” “Holiday” or “My Heart Rate Rapid,” which had a mandatory on the radio the world. It was not until the third album this year, but the wait was worthwhile. “The Torquay” Metronomy introduced a more mature and critics surrendered completely to the album.

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalMAZZY STAR & FLORENCE + THE MACHINE ADDED TO OPTIMUS ALIVE LINE UP.

MAZZY STAR are one of the most memorable bands of the 90s, despite having only released three albums. In 2012 they are back recording and on the road, playing at Optimus Alive’12 on July 15th joining the already confirmed, Radiohead.

The heady collaboration between Hope Sandoval and David Roback began to bear fruit in 1990 with the release of their debut album of Mazzy Star, “She Hangs Brightly”, but has become indelibly marked in music history with the launch of the second long-duration, “So Tonight That I Might See” (1993), which was included the most successful career in the U.S. duet, “Into The Dust

Also announced today are FLORENCE + THE MACHINE who will hit the stage on the 14th July. In 2009, Florence + The Machine impressed with the world debut album, “Lungs,” which included the singles “You’ve Got the Love,” “Dogs Day Are Over” or “Kiss With a Fist.” The album won audiences and critics, and earned several awards.

The often difficult second full-length was easily surpassed by Florence Welsh with the explosive “ceremonials.” The album went straight to No1. in the UK.

Optimus Alive! Festival, PortugalRADIOHEAD CONFIRM HEADLINE APPEARANCE AT OPTIMUS ALIVE 2012!

The band most requested by the Portuguese public finally returns to Portugal for a historic performance at Optimus Alive’12 – RADIOHEAD! The band take the stage on 15th July!

With more than 30 million albums sold worldwide, Radiohead can still boast of several awards won, such as three Grammy Awards, a Q Award or an NME Awards, among many others.

Tickets will go on sale today, Thursday, in the usual places for the same price as last year: 50 euros a day ticket and 99 euros 3 Day Pass. Due to changes in VAT, from January 1, 2012 daily pass tickets costing 53 euros, while the three-day passes go for 105 euros.
