Download Festival 2013Download Festival Headliners 2013IRON MAIDEN AND RAMMSTEIN ANNOUNCED AS HEADLINERS!

The rumor mill has been rife over the last few days waiting for the first headliners to be announced, with various top bands being thrown about!

Yesterday Live Nation announced that the mighty IRON MAIDEN coming back to Donington exactly 25 years after their first appearance at the then ‘Monsters of Rock Festival’ and joining them will be German metal heros RAMMSTEIN!

Iron Maiden lead singer Bruce Dickinson said: “We were completely overwhelmed by the reaction from our North American fans to the MAIDEN ENGLAND Tour, which was our most extensive tour there for many years. Some of the cities we played we hadn’t visited in over twenty years so had no idea what to expect! But the opening night in Charlotte was packed to the rafters and the crowd was amazing. This continued throughout making the whole tour very special. We had a lot of fun playing the older songs there and the fans seemed to love the set list* and Eddie’s various incarnations!  We all can’t wait to bring this show to our European fans.”

Bloodstock Festival UK 2012MACHINE HEAD CONFIRMED AS 3RD HEADLINER FOR BLOODSTOCK 2012

Machine Head to headline Bloodstock Open Air 2012FANS TO CHOOSE SET IN HISTORIC MOVE

It is with tremendous excitement that organisers have revealed their final headliner for 2012 as Oakland metal titans MACHINE HEAD, who will make their first ever UK festival headlining appearance on Saturday, August 11th on the RONNIE JAMES DIO main stage.

MACHINE HEAD first graced UK shores in the wake of their landmark debut album “Burn My Eyes” in 1994 as main support to Slayer. Fan reaction to MACHINE HEAD’s signature brand of crushing metal was so intense that the band would return immediately afterward to headline their own sold-out shows at many of the same venues, launching a massive swell of passionate fan support that continues to this day.

Seven albums, a Grammy nomination and countless tours later, UK fans continue to champion and support MACHINE HEAD as feverishly as they did at those first shows, and this year, at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012, they will be given the unprecedented opportunity to influence MACHINE HEAD’s set list!

Commemorating the 20th anniversary of MACHINE HEAD’s first-ever live performance at their roadie Mike “Scum”’s getting-evicted-from-his-house party – for which they performed five songs – Bloodstock ticket holders will be given the opportunity to vote for the five “Burn My Eyes” songs they most want to hear MACHINE HEAD play during their headline set Saturday night, with the five that receive the most votes included in the set list (details to follow)!

Anyone that’s ever witnessed MACHINE HEAD live will attest to the fact that the raw, unbridled energy of their performance is unlike anything else you’ll ever see. With countless legendary UK performances already on record, and a first-ever fan-influenced setlist, it goes without saying that MACHINE HEAD’s headline set at BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2012 is going to go down in metal history as one of those festival performances that you’ll forever be glad you got to see.

Guilfest 2012ASH, ABC, THE SOUTH STOOSHE AND MORE ADDED TO THE GUILFEST LINE UP!

New wave / Synth pop outfit ABC are set to headline The Good Time Guide Stage on Friday 13th July.  ABC are one of a few groups that can be credited for introducing a new sound into pop in the 1980s.  Their debut album “The Lexicon Of Love” is seen by many as the best British album of the decade and was released in May 1982, going straight into the UK album charts at number 1 and showcasing hit songs such as “Tears Are Not Enough”, “Poison Arrow”, “The Look Of Love”, and “All My Heart”.

The South (formerly The Beautiful South) will be entertaining crowds on The Main Stage on Friday 13th July.  After 20 years, ten studio albums, five greatest hits compilations, thirty-four chart singles, 15 million record sales worldwide and performing in front of millions of fans, when time was called on The Beautiful South in 2008, not everyone was ready to leave the party.  Dave Hemingway and Ali Wheeler, lead singers with the band were having too much fun to get out the pipe and slippers, and so The South was formed.

Heaven 17 are to perform on The Good Time Guide Stage on Friday 13th July.  Best known for 1980s hits “Temptation”, “Come Live With Me”, and “Crushed By The Wheels Of Industry”, the band have released a total of 27 singles and 8 studio albums since their inception back in 1980.

2 tone ska revival band, The Beat, will headline The Vive La Rock Stage on Saturday 14th July.  Fronted by vocalist Ranking Roger, The Beat are responsible for UK top 10 hits “Mirror In The Bathroom”, their cover of Smokey Robinsons “Tears of a Clown”, “Hands off… She’s Mine”, “Too Nice to Talk To”, and “Can’t Get Used to Losing You”.

Republica will be on The Main Stage on Saturday 14th July.  Famous for tracks such as “Ready to Go”, “From Rush Hour With Love”, and “Drop Dead Gorgeous”, the band describe their sound as techno-pop punk rock and are one of the most memorable of a wave of female fronted rock bands to emerge in the 1990s.

The godfather of Drum and Bass, Andy C is confirmed to headline The Kane FM presents Funky End Dance Tent on Saturday 14th July.  Regarded as one of the greatest DJs ever to touch a turntable, Andy C has been instrumental in the development of the Drum and Bass genre across the globe, since first playing out at events at almost two decades ago.

Dubstep innovator and one of the biggest DJs in the genre, Benga is the headliner for The Kane FM presents Funky End Dance Tent on Friday 13th July.

Drum and Bass sensation Sub Focus will be headlining The Kane FM presents Funky End Dance Tent on Sunday 15th July.  With three UK Dance Chart number 1s under his belt, a top 40 UK single, remix work with huge artists such as The Prodigy & Deadmau5, and numerous plays on Radio 1, Sub Focus is one of a rare breed to Drum and Bass artists to have truly broken into the mainstream.

Welsh Rockers Kids In Glass Houses are to headline The Big Cheese Cave on Friday 13th July.  Having achieved success on the strength of the singles “Give Me What I Want” and “Saturday” from their debut album Smart Casual in 2008, the band released their second album Dirt in early 2010.  The band’s third album, In Gold Blood, was released on 15 August 2011.

Last but by no means least, new three piece British pop/RnB sensation StooShe are to perform on The Main Stage on Sunday 15th July.  Nominated for The BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll as well as T4’s rising Stars of 2012, their first single “Love Me” was released in March this year and debuted at number 5 in the UK singles chart.

There are still many more acts still to be announced for this year’s festival and the line up will take shape over the coming weeks – with over 200 performers across a massive 12 stages at the festival.  This year is looking to be a sell out year so get your tickets quick to avoid disappointment.

Hard Rock Calling Festival, London UKTOM MORELLO – THE NIGHTWATCHMAN AND MORE CONFIRMED FOR THE LINE UP!

We’re very excited to announce that Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman is confirmed for Saturday, along with six more new acts across the weekend.

Tom Morello: The Nightwatchman is the solo project from the Rage Against the Machine / Audioslave guitarist. Few rock guitarists in the 90s were as groundbreaking as Tom, who incorporates a myriad of different styles into his guitar playing.

The Nightwatchman, Morello’s acoustic/folk alter ago, is a politically inspired solo project mixing acoustic melodies with his legendary electric guitar riffs. He’s released four studio albums and one live album under this alias, and this summer marks his debut solo performance at Hard Rock Calling.

Tom joined Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in 2008 in Anaheim, US, collaborating on The Ghost of Tom Joad, which Rage Against the Machine also covered. They reunited again last month on the first of Bruce Springsteen’s comeback dates in the US, joining up for a mind-blowing four-song set.

Other exciting additions across the weekend include hotly tipped Karima Francis, and fresh from their tour with Korn, Brit rockers the The Dirty Youth are added to the bill. London-based teen heartthrobs Lawson are also confirmed. The band have been busy touring with The Wanted, Will Young and Avril Lavigne, and are causing hysteria across the country with their debut single When She Was Mine.

Irish singer/songwriter Ryan Sheridan, rockers The Night, and hotly tipped Rough Trade Records signing Dylan LeBlanc are also confirmed.

Bloodstock Festival UK 2012WITCHSORROW, DRIPBACK & BATTALION FOR BLOODSTOCK’S SOPHIE STAGE

BLOODSTOCK has announced a further three acts for the SOPHIE stage at this years festival.

Returning to CATTON HALL, WITCHSORROW threaten the British summer time with downtuned doom and gloom that echoes metal greats such as St Vitus, Candlemass and Trouble. Says mainman Necro Skull:

“We are truly honoured to be returning to cast a shadow over Bloodstock once more. We promise you total doom annihilation, a celebration for the damned as the end of the world looms at the end of this wretched annum. To be in the company of such excellent bands as Watain, Alice Cooper, Orange Goblin, Grand Magus and Winterfylleth is a grand thing indeed. God curse us, every one!”

Returning for the second year in a row, London loud-louts DRIPBACK take a break from the studio to come back to the SOPHIE stage with their seething mix of hardcore and death metal.

“For us it’s all about being intense in tents, so this really is the perfect festival slot for Dripback. We’re all so buzzing about playing with CROWBAR, HATEBREED, TESTAMENT and all the other awesome bands, this really is the best festival”.

Finally, Swiss thrashers BATTALION make their UK debut at BLOODSTOCK. The Thrash Maniacs check in to say:

“It’s the first time for us to play in England! What a fucking start! We’re looking forward to kick some ass there!!! See ya Bloodstock!!!  Cheers from Zurich, the Battalion-Bastards”

Relentless Wakestock Festival, Wales UK 2012TOP NEW WELSH ACTS ADDED TO WAKESTOCK FESTIVAL LINE UP!

Wakestock is synonymous with supporting the best talent on the Welsh music scene and this year is no different. Organiser are stoked to be able to announce that Welsh rockers FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND are joining the bill at this years festival. Formed in 2001, the band have released five studio albums, seven EPs and sixteen singles including hits like Streetcar, Into Oblivion and Juneau. The band are currently holed up in the studio working on their forthcoming sixth studio album. Don’t miss them at this year’s Wakestock!

STRAIGHT LINES hail from South Wales. Having spent a large chunk of 2011 in the studio recording their second album ‘Freaks Like Us’ between support slots with The Subways and Funeral For A Friend , Straight Lines are on an upward spiral that doesn’t look set to finish anytime soon. With new video/single ‘Half Gone’ out now and an album to follow this week, this band is heading for great things in 2012.

Back in August 2011, a new artist emerged on the scene with a remix of Amy Winehouse which attracted loads of attention and was rumoured to be the work of James Blake (one hell of a compliment). In actual fact the remixer is IFAN DAFYDD and he’s just been added to our line up. With the release of “No Good / Miranda” on Push & Run, Ifan Dafydd firmly set himself in the UK dance scene. His follow up of “Treehouse / To Me” dropped in January and is something a little different, but equally as impressive as his debut.

AL LEWIS is a singer-songwriter from North Wales whose sound is reminiscent of the classic singer-songwriters of the 70s, delivered with a modern twist. Al released the album ‘In the Wake’ at the start of 2011 and has been gathering support and praise from  the likes of Steve Lamacq and Bob Harris.  He is also a favourite of Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2. Al performed a 12 date UK tour and was shortlisted for the inaugural Welsh Music Prize. He will return to Wakestock after first appearing back in 2008.

Joining him are SEN SEGUR, a young psychedelic pop rock band from Penmachno, Wales who perform mainly in the Welsh language. They have a new EP, ‘Penrhydd’, with four tracks of great progressive tunes. With an average age of just 17, Sen Segur are but seedlings amongst the flowers of the Welsh music scene and are ones to watch at this year’s Wakestock.

Another great act on the bill are Y BANDANA, a Welsh language alternative rock band that formed in Caernarfon in 2008. They are known for combining humorous lyrics with catchy melodies. Their highly energetic, half naked sets are a magnet for young crowds from Caernarfon down to Cardiff. The band released their debut album last year and have achieved great success in the Welsh language rock scene. Check them out this year.
