Sziget Festival 2012SNOOP DOG, SUM 41 AND MORE CONFIRMED FOR SZIGET 2012!

The program of the 20th Sziget Festival is almost complete now and the newest announcement includes various styles, featuring Snoop Dogg, Sum 41, Leftfield and SebastiAn

Calvin Cordozar Broadus a.k.a. Snoop Dogg can easily be considered as “king of gangsta rap”, a real icon of the scene who already sold almost 20 million albums world-wide.

Deryck Whibley’s Sum 41 is a clear and undisputed choice for the younger generation of punk fans. Deryck (also ex-husband of pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne) formed the band together with drummer Steve Jocz in 1996 in Ajax, Canada and grew to become a leader of the genre by now.  SebastiAn is a French musician, DJ and producer, mainly active in the contemporary electro house scene. Besides becoming a regular at e-music festivals and renown for his special remixes, SebastiAn’s music also appears in several movies and video games.

Leftfield is probably the most popular act of the British party culture from the 90s. After producing some of the most important e-music pieces of the scene, they stopped working together in 2002, only to celebrate a successful comeback recently

Sziget Festival HungarySZIGET FESTIVAL REVEALS LINE-UP FOR WORLD MUSIC PARTY STAGE

Traditionally the Sziget Festival in Hungary, recently chosen as the Best Major Festival at the European Festival Awards, has a very strong line-up in the world music genre. For that reason world music magazine Songline has once again voted Sziget as one of the top festival in the world music genre. Because the festival has its twentieth edition this year, Sziget has decided the world music stage should be one of many places to party this year. The name of the stage has been changed into World Music Party Stage and all acts in its line-up are known to make a good party.

One of the biggest names for the World Music Party Stage is without doubt The Pogues. The Celtic punkband will show up in their original line-up. Other big names are coming from the Balkan genre: Goran Bregovic Wedding And Funeral Band, Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra, Shantel & Bucovina Orkestar and Fanfare Ciocarlia.

There will also be a great number of bands playing latin or ska to dance to. Some of them even mix the pleasures of both genres, like La Selva Sur and Che Sudaka from Spain, or Mexican ska stars Los De Abajo. Figli Di Madre Ignota play mixes several genres into their own trademark “Spaghetti Balkan”, while Sergent Garcia combines raggamuffin with salsa, thus creating the universe of „salsamuffin”. Also not to be missed are the powerful gig of Russian ska combo Leningrad, Bosnian Dubioza Kolektiv and Sicilian Roy Paci & Aretuska.

Hungarian bands will also present some Balkan and ska tunes, amongst them Besh o droM, Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra and the Hungarian-Ukrainian-German cooperation of Rotfront. Probably the most anticipated Hungarian gig on the world stage will belong to Quimby, who are huge stars in Hungary.

The clear mission of the World Music Party Stage is to make everybody dance while breaking all style barriers. Therefore lining-up too will be LaBrassBanda – reinventing Bavarian brass tunes, Maroccan gnawa-rock act Orchestre National De Barbés and Athens-based Imam Baildi.

Other great world msic party acts are French-Algerian HK & Les Saltimbanks, Dutch klezmer icons Amsterdam Klezmer Band, Spanish Muchachito Bombo Infierno, Mexican Molotov and Narasirato from the Solomon Islands.

Exit Festival SerbiaPlan B at Exit Festival Serbia 2012PLAN B, AVICII, FELIX DA HOUSECAT & TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS CONFIRMED

More acts revealed for EXIT, giving you even more to look forward to this summer and students the chance to celebrate their exam results in style with the mother of all parties. Multitalented British rapper, lyricist, actor and director Plan B will join us on the Main Stage and the mighty Dance Arena welcomes Avicii, Felix Da Housecat and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs.

Avicii is the rising star of the electronic music scene making the top 10 in the 2011 DJ Top 100 poll at only 21 years of age! Hailing from Sweden, Avicci is a DJ, producer and remixer with many hits under his belt including ‘Levels’ which reached the top 10 in 14 European countries.  Having first emerged onto the scene in 2008 with a remix of the theme song to the Commodore 64 video game Lazy Jones, Avicii’s first release was signed to Strike Recordings, entitled ‘Lazy Lace.’ Avicii is definitely one to watch and his recent collaboration with David Guetta on a track called ‘Sunshine’ was nominated for a Grammy award under the category for Best Dance Recording.

Making a welcome return to the EXIT Dance Arena is Felix Da Housecat, a name as synonymous with House music as it is with being the moniker of one of the greatest innovators of the current Electro sound.  Regarded as a member of the second wave of Chicago House, Felix da Housecat’s breakthrough 2001 album, Kittenz and thee Glitz, took the dance music world by storm as his collaborations with the now infamous Miss Kittin on “Silver Screen” and “Madame Hollywood” and “What Does it Feel Like” spawned a synth club revival.  Felix Da Housecat has music in his veins and the world has recognized this with two Grammy Award nominations for the legendary DJ/Producer. Felix is one of electronic music pioneers and we can’t wait for him to dominate the dancefloor at EXIT.

Under the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED) moniker lies Orlando Higginbottom, swinging between an overt musicality and scarily on-point dancefloor sensibility, ripping up clubs around the globe with his live show of bizarre instruments, glitter cannons and of course… dancing dinosaurs. His first two EPs (released in 2009 and 2010) have already stirred up the commotion around TEED, set to culminate this May with the release of the debut album, so brace yourselves for exclusives in the Dance Arena. Orlando’s greatest and latest adventure is the famous trip to Congo, where he worked closely with local musicians, as a producer, personally invited by Damon Albarn and Oxfam on their DRC LP project
