Best known for the legendary “Because The Night” that has been covered by artists all over the world singer-songwriter PATTI SMITH is also a poet and an artist. Her creativity allows a fusion of her poetic lyrics and rock music. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and with many prestigious awards under her belt Smith truly is a living legend.

After last years Pulp success at Electric Picnic RICHARD HAWLEY obviously couldn’t get enough and is back for more this year! With 6 studio albums and another due for release in May 2012, working with Lisa Marie Presley and The Arctic Monkeys – how the rockabilly soloist will choose his set is beyond us!

Chaotic and energetic CRYSTAL CASTLES bring their electrifying live show to EP2012. Known for their lo-fi electro style Crystal Castles have a legion of dedicated fans this side of the Atlantic. The Canadian duo are currently recording their 3rd studio album after receiving widespread acclaim for their previous work.

Can we have your un-divided attention so we can multiply your interest? Added to the line up is London based DJ,SBTRKT. Known and respected for his remixes and original instrumentals SBTRKT has recently surprised the industry with his self-titled debut album by inviting guests to provide vocals for his arrangements. Stepping a tiny bit closer to mainstream has successfully made his work more accessible to a wider audience without losing his originality.

Following an announcement earlier this year that GRANDADDY have reformed we can officially announce that they will be performing at Electric Picnic. Ex-professional skateboarder, singer, guitarist and keyboardist Jason Lytle formed the band in the early 90’s in sunny California.

The significant Jazz influence that resonates through-out the electro drum and bass separates SQUAREPUSHER from the crowd and fans give him the deserved title as one of the greatest electro artists of our time. His upcoming album Ufabulum has been described by Squarepusher himself as “something very melodic, very aggressive” – intense, electifying and manic is the only way to describe his live shows.

Brighton boys THE MACCABEES chose the name for their band by whimsically flicking through the Bible and landing on a random word and despite this they claim that the band are not remotely religious!

With recent sell out shows in Benelux and rave live reviews, GAVIN FRIDAY proves that he still packs the same energy and passion with his performance ‘Theatrical and Phenomenal! Nothing touches Gavin Live ‘ Oor Magazine The Netherlands.

Actor, composer, writer, musician, singer, author… is there anything VAN DYKE PARKS can’t do? Well known for his contribution to the lyrics of The Beach Boys and starring alongside Grace Kelly, Van Dyke Parks has released six studio albums with his individual style.

Soulful and inspiring it is no surprise that many people regard MICHAEL KIWANUKA as the music defining the early months of this year – so much so that he won the BBC Sound of 2012 award. Kiwanuka who has collaborated with The Black Keys, supported Adele in her 2011 tour and announced a full North American tour has yet to release a full length album.

Difficult to pigeonhole into one music category THE JEZABELS have playfully described their sound as “intensindie”. Perhaps they are onto something as their music has travelled worldwide after massive success in their native Australia.

Rejoice! DUBLIN GOSPEL CHOIR are returning for their 7th consecutive Electric Picnic appearance, their staple Sunday morning performance has annually refreshed the minds and bodies of Picnicers after a late night.

Fun, young and Australian – EAGLE AND THE WORM have an ability to condense the feeling of summer, sunshine and love into song. The quirky, feel-good band are known to be extremely close and love sharing their life with their fans.

80’s folk rock band IN TUA NUA return to the stage to perform at Electric Picnic. Splitting in 1990 the band took on solo projects but now they are back together and are bringing their signature combination of traditional Irish music, rock and raw vocals. In Tua Nua are releasing their first recording in 23 years later this month.

Festival organisers have announced that there will be no Oxegen Festival in 2012 as they will be taking a ‘Glastonbury’ style year off and promise to come back with a strong line up in 2013!

We love festivals and are glad that so many of you are likeminded – we want to make 2012 a huge year and increase the number of ‘festival fans’ so that we can carry on bringing you up to date information about all your favourite festivals.

Underworld make a return to Stradbally Hall following their last show there in ’08. Bob Geldof will be treating picnicers to not only his first ever music performance at the Picnic and also making an appearance at the Spoken Word area.

Also confirmed to appear over the weekend from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th September are M. Oxegen is proud to bring their fans one of the biggest superstars on the planet – BEYONCÉ. This is Irish fans first chance to see BEYONCÉ since her sold out run of shows at The O2 in 2009. Her stunning vocals and high-energy choreography make her a peerless live performer.

Canada’s ambassador for all things electro, TIGA is one of the most prolific producers in the world, remixing tracks by Scissor Sisters, Fever Ray and The XX and his debut album won Dance Recording of the Year in Canada’s Juno Awards.

Last year’s single ‘Take Over Control ft. Eva Simons’ , gave AFROJACK over 1 million views on YouTube. His reputation as a producer has seen him receive remix requests for Lady Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ and Madonna’s ‘Revolver’ for which he took the 2011 Grammy Award in collaboration with David Guetta.

OCEAN COLOUR SCENE  have notched up nine albums, three of which went Top 5 and a run of nine successive Top 20 hit singles commencing with 1996’s ‘The Riverboat Song’.

NYC’s finest FUN LOVIN’ CRIMINALS are back! They’re always hugely popular at Oxegen with their repertoire including the killer tracks ‘The King Of New York’ and ‘Scooby Snacks’.

Completing today’s announcement are FENECH SOLER. Their single ‘Stop and Stare’ was named as one of BBC Radio 1’s ‘Record of the Week’ and the ‘Weekend Anthem’ and their latest EP ‘Demons’ has been widely praised. Lead vocalist Ben Duffy also featured on the Groove Armada track “Paper Romance”.

Heading today’s announcement is the guitar legend that is known as SLASH, the man responsible for some of rock’s most iconic guitar solo’s!  Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (OFWGKTA) have gone from underground sensations to the hottest new act in the USA in just a few months and they’ve even graced the front cover of Billboard Magazine.

METRONOMY’s new album ‘The English Rivera’ was only released last week but is already considered a genuine contender for album of the year. NME gave it 9/10 calling Metronomy “one of the most expansive and visionary bands in the country”.

MANIC STREET PREACHERS are back at Oxegen for the first time since 2009. Classic songs such as ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’, ‘A Design For Life’ and ‘La Tristessa Durera’ helped define a generation.  PETER DOHERTY follows up his successful reunion shows with The Libertines last year with a solo tour and a return to Oxegen.

THE SATURDAYS represent ultimate pop perfection! The gorgeous five-piece have enjoyed an incredible run of success with eight top ten singles and they’ve a new album expected this summer!  Taylor Momsen is best known for playing Jenny Humphrey on hit TV show Gossip Girl. So the ferocity of her band THE PRETTY RECKLESS could raise an eyebrow from those expecting a pretty, blonde teenager to gravitate toward straight-up pop song-writing!

KE$HA exploded onto the scene when her debut single, ‘Tik Tok’, topped the US charts for 9 consecutive weeks, selling over 5 million copies!

Also added today is one of the brightest rising stars in rap – PROFESSOR GREEN. His debut album ‘Alive Till I’m Dead’ was a standout record from last year.  Another rap talent tearing up dance-floors in 2010 was EXAMPLE. He delivered guest vocals on the aforementioned Professor Green’s single Monster and enjoyed more chart success with No.3 hit ‘Kickstarts’.

The international superstars’ performance drew huge crowds in 2010 and organizers have revealed that The BLACK EYED PEAS will be back at OXEGEN in 2011.

The Black Eyed Peas’ phenomenal success includes four No.1 Irish singles and they’ve sold over 30 million albums worldwide!  Their most recent album ‘TheBeginning’ featured the brilliant single ”The Time (Dirty Bit),” which topped the charts across the globe.

Oxegen Festival, IrelandPAOLO NUTINI today becomes the fourth artist confirmed for Oxegen 2011! The multi-platinum selling Scottish superstar was a big hit with Oxegen fans on the main stage last year and we’ve been inundated with requests to bring him back.

Since appearing at OXEGEN, Paolo triumphed at The Q Awards 2010, where he won Best Male Artist. His last album, ‘Sunny Side Up’ was a number 1 hit in Ireland and built on the success of debut ‘These Streets’ which sold over 2 million copies.

Oxegen Festival, IrelandBLINK 182 COMING TO OXEGEN NEXT JULY!

Hot on the heels of announcing Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys as the first headliners for OXEGEN 11, organizers have confirmed that BLINK-182 will also be performing at Oxegen in July.

With 25 million worldwide album sales under their belt, pop punk trio BLINK-182 formed in California in 1992 and released five studio albums including multi-platinum selling breakthrough album Enema of the State before breaking away from the music scene in 2004.

With a new album planned for release in spring 2011, BLINK-182 Oxegen performance will be eagerly anticipated by their Irish fans.

ARCTIC MONKEYS are without question one of the defining bands of the last decade. Their first album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not became the fastest-selling debut album in UK music history and the soundtrack for a generation. Their second release Favourite Worst Nightmare saw them hit No.1 again and pick up a Brit Award for Best Album and Best Band for the second year running.

The band developed their sound further with their critically acclaimed third chart topper Humbug. Last seen at OXEGEN in 2006, it’s brilliant to welcome ARCTIC MONKEYS back to Punchestown.
